Putting Public Service Before Politics

Politics is a term that has gotten pretty much muddled up and confounded with public service. In fact, the way things stand, its practically difficult to divorce the concept of the first from that of a business, career, or path to celebrity. Anyone can imagine just how unprepossessing that is. All those running for office should know how to differentiate and put public service before politics.

Thats a necessary mantra to keep in mind. After all, its easy to be misled on what the meat of politics really is. Recently, it has come to be a jump start to power. Politicians run for office to enrich and empower themselves. It goes without saying, but the nub of the matter is always on service. One joins the ranks so as to make the lives of their fellowman or countryman smooth sailing.

When you think about it, public service can really be boiled down to the simple and yet convoluted issue of human rights. One aims to forward the interests and wellbeing of the general populace, at compromise to his or her own. Therefore, this is equated to selfless service. A lot of things need refining and reforming, and in most cases, it can be boiled down to a change or enlightenment of the leadership.

When you aim to help others, its done with a specific end goal in mind. You aim to keep in mind some specific needs and wants. Prioritization is the operative word. This is where things can get complicated. After all, priorities are different to each his own. Perhaps the trick is to pay attention to the issues that are urgent and pressing, which are impending to do some great or momentous damage unless placed a stopper on.

The point is, everything came by social consensus. Therefore, the results are essentially the voice of the people. Also, bad outcomes do not necessarily spell out the end of the world. Right through the end, you can still inject your voice to any issue at hand. And when worse comes to worst, you still have nongovernmental bodies to rely on.

Weve already tangentially alluded to urban planning and transportation infrastructure. These are means to an end. Nonetheless, its also a hefty enterprise all by itself. Therefore, its very much a separate consideration with a whole host of nitty gritty and corollaries. Furthermore, theres the concern of waste management. This ones considerable, indeed, seeing as how waste is something that should be logistically handled.

The sectors which public service subsumes are many. In the end, most can just be pinned down to fundamental human rights. The political mother ship is responsible for bringing that about. This is perhaps among the most constantly demanded ones. As it is, they dont choose based on any fair and just variable, and its particularly hard on those that cant afford it.

The thing is, societal problems are things that must be viewed from a birds eye view. If not, then one risks making decisions and courses of actions seemingly from the ivory tower. This should naturally not be the case. Rather, one must see to it that theyre unquestionably catering to the general wellbeing and interest of the populace. As per the aphorism, selfless service must take preponderance over the self enterprising world of politics.
